Broadband around the UK - info gathered
March 2004 and BT are always seeking ways to improve broadband coverage
so always check directly for info.
bt broadband where I live
BT is happy to support people who want to bring broadband to their local
exchanges. BT offers campaigners a full range of expert support, publicity
materials and a dedicated website. More than 1200 exchanges are already
being enabled as a direct result of the success of local campaigns in
driving up awareness and demand for broadband.
BT AND ONE NORTHEAST BRING BROADBAND TO EVERY EXCHANGE IN THE NORTH
EAST REGION
There's fantastic news for people in the North East with the announcement
by regional development agency One NorthEast of a £10 million project
with BT to bring broadband to every single exchange in the region by
March 2005.
Under this groundbreaking intiative, One NorthEast will deploy £4.7
million, including European funding, towards the capital cost of upgrading
the remaining exchanges in the region, making the North East a flagship
for Broadband Britain.
The announcement means people in the North East will no longer need
to register in advance to hit a demand trigger for their exchange to
be upgraded. Once a specific ready for service date has been published
on the availability checker you will be able to order broadband from
the service provider of your choice.

region’s population. More than 800 primary and secondary schools
- around 70 per cent - and more than 250 libraries are also covered.
With a further 100 exchanges actively seeking registrations of customer
interest, broadband is at the heart of developing a knowledge-based
economy for the North West. Exchanges are enabled for broadband when
customer interest reaches a preset trigger level.

BROADBAND IN WALES
ADSL broadband has doubled in its availability in Wales, from 35% in
October 2002 to 64% in October 2003 and has grown to 70% by the end
of 2003 thanks to BT's innovative pre-registration scheme. In addition
broadband connections are growing in Wales at one of the fastest rates
in the UK thanks to a series of partnerships undertaken with partners
to raise awareness of the benefits of broadband.
