What are my mail servers?
Your Incoming Mail (POP3) = mail.btinternet.com
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) = mail.btinternet.com
What is my account name and password?
Account name = first part of your email address (before '@') e.g. joe.bloggs
@btinternet.com
Password = password you choose when registering
Change time for mail to stay on the server - (Useful to collect email
from two locations)
Check your settings at Tools>Accounts>[BT
Yahoo]>Properties>Advanced>Delivery. Tweaking them will allow
messages to
remain on the BT Yahoo server for the period of time you choose.

broadband connection from BT might caus e problem if you've been upgraded
to bt yahoo.
If you've been upgraded to BT Yahoo. & unable
to access email from Netscape Mail?
'PASS command did not succeed: Authentication failed'
Try these:
1. Go to Edit > Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings > mail.account.name
and make sure the e-mail address is entered correctly.
2. Go to Edit > Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings > mail.account.name >
Server Settings and remove the check mark from the "Use secure
connection (SSL)" box.
3. Open 7.1's Password Manager and delete any passwords for the old
and
new e-mail address, then close and reopen Netscape 7.1.
4. In Edit > Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings add a new mail
account
for the new e-mail address. If it works correctly, drag the messages
and folders from the old account to it.
5. Create a totally new Netscape profile.
Eudora Pro Versions 5.1 and higher
Versions 5.1 and higher of Eudora Pro allow you to set up multiple email
accounts, so you don't have to replace your current POP and SMTP settings
in order to send and receive new Yahoo! Mail messages.
Click on the "Tools" menu and select "Personalities."
Right-click in the "Personalities" box (on the left of the
screen) and select "New."
The New Account Wizard will take you through the set up.
Use the following settings:
Personality Name: Yahoo! Mail
Account Settings: Select "Create a new account."
Personal Information: Enter your name.
Email Address: Enter your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., member@btinternet.com
or member@btopenworld.com).
Login Name: Enter your full Yahoo! Mail address.
Incoming Email Server: Type mail.btinternet.com and make sure that "POP" is
selected at the bottom.
Outgoing Email Server: Type mail.btinternet.com.
Check the box next to "Allow authentication."
Click the "Finish" button when you are done.
To control deletion of messages from the Yahoo! Mail Server, follow these
steps:
Click on the "Tools" menu and select "Options."
Click the picture on the left that says "Incoming Mail."
Check "Delete from server after..." if you want your messages
to be deleted from the Yahoo! Mail server once you have received them
Eudora. Do not check this box if you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages
on the Yahoo! Mail server as well as on your local computer.

Outlook Express for Mac
Outlook Express allows you to add a new email account to your existing
profile, so you do not have to replace your current settings in order
to send and receive Yahoo! Mail messages. To set this up, follow these
steps:
From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
Select the "Mail" tab.
Click the "Add" button.
From the Add menu, click "Mail."
In the Display Name text box, type your name, and then click "Next."
In the email address box, enter your full Yahoo! Mail address (e.g.,
member@btopenworld.com or member@btinterner.com).
In the Incoming (POP3) box, type: mail.btinternet.com
In the Outgoing (SMTP) box, type: mail.btinternet.com
Click "Next."
In the Account Name box, type your full Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., member@btopenworld.com
or member@btinterner.com).
In the Password box, type your Yahoo! Mail password.
If you want Outlook Express to remember your password, then check the
box.
Do not check the "Log on using secure password... " box.
Click "Next."
Click "Finish."
To control deletion of messages from the Yahoo! Mail Server, follow these
steps:
From the Tools menu, choose "Account."
Select the "Mail" tab.
Double-click on your Yahoo! Mail account.
Select the "Options" tab.
5. In the Server Options section at the bottom of the window, check "Leave
a copy of each message on the server" if you want to save your Yahoo!
Mail messages on both the Yahoo! Mail server and on your local computer.
If you would prefer to have your messages deleted from the Yahoo! Mail
server after you have received them in Outlook Express, do not check
this box.
