1. What is blueyonder broadband Internet?
Blueyonder broadband Internet is a high speed connection to the intrenet which is always on. As blueyonder came via a separate cable connection it doesn’t tip up your phone line.
Blueyonder offers a choice of 3 speeds from 512k to 1Mb and 2Mb.The word broadband means that a greater amount of information can pass through a 'fatter' cable to speed the delivery of heavy data, such as trailers or music files. Standard dial-up connections are sometimes described as 'narrowband'.

2. What does an always on service mean?
Always on means that broadband is a permanent connection to the Internet. A broadband connection lets you access the Internet from the minute you switch on your computer. With broadband, you don't need to specifically 'dial up' or log on like a standard modem connection. You can control outgoing and incoming access to your broadband connection if you install personal firewall software.

3. Can I watch my television and use my telephone while using blueyonder?
Yes. Our service does not tie up your TV connection or phone line.

4. Do I need cable TV to get blueyonder?
No. You are not required to subscribe to Telewest's cable TV or telephone services. If you do subscribe to a Telewest Telephone service we can offer a reduced monthly fee of £25 instead of £29.99.

5. Can I receive your service if my house is not already wired for cable?
Yes, if Telewest's digital cable network is available in your street. Please use postcode search to check for regional availability.

6. Do I have to use blueyonder as my Internet Service Provider (ISP)?
Yes. When you order any blueyonder Internet product, blueyonder automatically becomes your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

7. Is it possible to prevent my children from accessing inappropriate material on the web?
Yes. Once you have subscribed, we have a help site from which you can access a program called Cyber Patrol. Cyber Patrol enables you to filter content to different levels of usage for all the users in your family. An evaluation version of this program is free.

8. What is a NIC (Network Interface Card)?
A Network Interface Card connects the high-speed modem necessary for broadband to your computer. If you don't have one, our technicians can install one for you for an additional £25.

9. What about security?
We make every effort possible to keep our network secure. However, we do recommend that you use personal firewall software to secure your own connection to the internet. You are responsible for your own security while online.

10. How can I get blueyonder broadband Internet?
Use our postcode search to find out if blueyonder broadband is available in your area. If you are in area, you can either sign up online, fill in our sales enquiry form or call 0800 953 5383. Our team will contact you at a suitable time to answer any questions you may have and if you are interested they will be happy to arrange installation of the service.

11. How can I check whether I can get blueyonder broadband Internet in my area?
You can find out whether you able to receive Telewest Broadband services by using our availability checker on the site. This checker is 99% accurate. For exact confirmation on availability contact us on 0800 953 5383.

12. Can I use blueyonder as part of a home network?
Yes, it is possible to connect blueyonder broadband Internet through a home network. However this is not a service we offer and if you do wish to connect in this way, it is at your discretion.

With this in mind, we are pleased to announce that we will be making your service even faster at no extra cost whilst continuing to give you the peace of mind of a completely unlimited service unlike our competitors at Wanadoo and BT.

What is going to happen?

We will be making the following changes to your service:

blueyonder broadband - 512k becomes 2Mb

Currently our introductory service runs at up to 512K. This will become up to 2Mb, that's 4x faster at no extra cost.

In addition we are doubling the upstream speed (the speed at which you can attach photos and files to the internet) to up to 256k.

blueyonder broadband complete - 1Mb becomes 4Mb

Our standard service currently has a speed of up to 1Mb. This will become a super-fast up to 4Mb service, that's 4x faster than the current speed at no extra cost.

We are also increasing the upstream speed to up to 384k from 128k.

blueyonder broadband elite - 2Mb and 4Mb become an amazing 10Mb

Our elite services with speeds of either 2Mb or 4Mb will both be increased, to up to 10Mb.

The broadband elite- 2Mb service will also benefit from an increase in upstream speed to up to 384k.

The 10Mb service will cost only £35. Customers on the current 4Mb service will benefit from the new £35 price from October/ November.

We will be starting to upgrade our customers on a region-by-region basis from the end of September

The upgrades will happen automatically, you will not have to do anything.

To help you understand when you will be able to benefit from your fantastic new speed, we have listed below when we expect the upgrades to take place for the first Telewest regions.
